Award of Scholarship Funds by the Friends of Cal-Ore Fish, Inc. through the Murchison Family Scholarship Program
Awards of scholarship funds by the Friends of Cal-Ore Fish, Inc. (FCOF) shall be granted under a program named in honor of the Murchison Family and shall be granted annually in accordance with the instructions and guidelines set forth herein.
The objective of this scholarship program is to recognize and reward those guides who have supported FCOF with their commitment and contributions.
The Board of Trustees of Friends of Cal-Ore Fish, Inc. (Board) has approved the setting aside of up to 25% of it's annual funds collected (after expenses) in a separate account for the benefit of the scholarship program. The Board will form an independent Scholarship Committee (Committee) to administer the program. The Committee will be given the sole authority for selecting the scholarship recipient/s. A recipient's selection by the Committee will not be subject to any approval by the Board.
The Board shall be responsible for funding the scholarship awards, for advertising the availability of such scholarship awards and for the administration of the process resulting in the award of scholarships including the notification of the recipients. The Board, without comment, shall forward all applications it receives to the Committee.
The Board shall have the duty and the responsibility of determining the amount of each scholarship and shall exercise its discretion in these things so as to be of the greatest benefit to the largest number of students. While the Board shall have full discretion in these matters, the following procedures set forth herein for selecting recipients and determining the amount of each scholarship shall be followed unless good reason appears for departure there from.
The Committee shall solicit applications for scholarship awards from candidates eligible under the criteria set forth herein. In reviewing a scholarship application the Committee shall not consider the applicant's race, national origin, sex, religion or physical disability but shall give consideration to the candidate's intelligence, character, industry, academic achievement and need for financial assistance in obtaining further education. A majority vote of the Committee is required to award a scholarship grant.
The scholarships shall be awarded for one-year terms and the amount may vary each year. Scholarships are not automatically renewed, however, you may reapply the following year.
